Maroon 5 surprised fans by releasing a new single, which is titled Cold, from their forthcoming album on Tuesday. On Wednesday Maroon 5 offered their first live performance of the track on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show.

In the studio version of the track the band teams up with the popular rapper Future.  The track itself, however, does not have the pop-rock vibe that Maroon 5’s early sound was based off of. The track focuses heavily with Levine’s vocals and a percussion-heavy beat.

The album doesn’t currently have a name or release date, but that didn’t stop Ellen from trying to get some details about the band’s new music. When asked when the album would be released, Levine was pretty vague.

“(It will be released in) like in a few months. I don’t know exactly when so I am going to be as vague about it as possible,” he told the daytime TV audience.

Levine says that the music video, which features his wife Behati Prinsloo, involves a lot of his creative ideas.
