My 16-year-old son is in his first "real" relationship. I trust him, and completely approve of his girlfriend, who's very sweet and mature for a 16-year-old. But my husband isn't quite as trusting and he always keeps a close watch on the two of them when she's at our house. My son wants to cook his girlfriend a special dinner on Valentine's Day, and he asked us if we could leave the house for a few hours to give them some privacy. I'm fine leaving them alone but my husband seems to think that we should chaperone, so no "touchy-feely" nonsense goes on. Isn't my 16-year-old son cooking his girlfriend a Valentine's Day dinner harmless? Should we leave them alone? Or should we keep an eye on them because they're too young?
