Our hearts go out today to five-year-old Jonathan Hurst of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England, today . . . because, sadly, there's no way in hell he's going to grow up to have a normal life.
Jonathan's mother is 29-year-old Amanda Hurst, and she LOVES breastfeeding. Loves it. Loves it so much that she is STILL breastfeeding five-year-old Jonathan.
Loves it so much that when she watches her friends' babies and young children, she offers to breastfeed those kids too.
Amanda says she doesn't think there's anything wrong with breastfeeding a first grader . . . quote, "It not only boosts [his] immune system, it keeps me healthy too by lowering my risk of breast cancer."
She didn't stop breastfeeding Jonathan in public until he was three . . . and now, when he suckles up at home, she says he considers it a treat, quote, "like eating chocolate."
According to a breastfeeding counselor, quote, "There's no evidence that breastfeeding children at any age is in any way harmful, either psychologically or physically . . . the milk remains as healthy."
