Scranton Santa Parade

It was a great honor being asked to be the Grand Marshal in the downtown Scranton Santa Parade on Saturday.

Thousands braved the cold to check out the balloons & floats.

Big thanks to Al & Karen from Olyphant for letting me ride on the back of their vintage firetruck.

Cutting the ribbon to kickoff the parade at 9a.

We got flash mobbed by dancers from Lynne Mariani Productions.

The star of the show!

Attention Penguins Fans!!!

Yesterday I heard from my buddy Brian Coe at the WBS Penguins.  He wants to give Pens fans a chance to help give back to the community.

Here's how it works:

Want tickets for the Friday November 29th game at the Arena?  Call the Pens at 570-970-3607 and mention 98.5 KRZ, Rocky & Lissa, Thanks 4 Giving or the Soup Kitchen.  $4 from every ticket purchased will go directly to help feeding the hungry at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre.

It's an easy way to help during this holiday season.

Again, call 570-970-3607 and ask for the Soup Kitchen deal.

Or, CLICK HERE to order your tickets online from The Penguins.

Do your part...and...

LET'S GO PENS!!!

One Week to Go

I wanted to send out a quick reminder to all our KITCHEN CREW volunteers.  Next Tuesday, November 26 is the day.  We'll provide aprons & gloves.  Please bring any kitchen utensil you might have to do the slicing & dicing.  And don't forget to set your alarm!!!

If you missed the deadline to volunteer, here's how you can still help:

This year the ST. VINCENT DEPAUL SOUP KITCHEN in Wilkes-Barre will be serving Thanksgiving to over 250.  And nearly 1000 meals will be delivered to the homebound.

We would LOVE to have you stop by while we broadcast live next Tuesday 5:30-10a with a non-perishable food or cash donation.  Pies are also needed for the Thanksgiving meal.

And if you'd like to volunteer Thanksgiving day to deliver meals, call the kitchen at 570.829.7796.

As always...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Santa's Little Helper

Check out the winner's of our SANTA'S LITTLE HELPER contest at the Mall at Steamtown Friday night!  These 3 lucky kids get to help Santa in the Downtown Scranton Santa Parade this Saturday, November 23rd.

All was going well until I decided to get into the picture.

The Mall at Steamtown was all ready for Santa's arrival.  This year's tree looks amazing!!!  And we had an awesome crowd too!

Volunteers are also needed for the day of the parade.  You can actually walk with one of the giant balloons in the parade.  Contact the parade committee at 570.483.8757 or email them at info@parade.net.

You'll find more info on this year's parade here:  www.santaparade.net

Oh yeah.  Since I am the Grand Marshall in the parade this year, I've got special access to the Jolly Fatman.  Let me know if you want me to put in a good word for you.  Fishboy is still working Santa for a Red Ryder BB gun.

THANK a Vet Today!

(My Dad--WW2--far left)

I wanted to take some time out in my blog today to recognize two important Veterans in my life:  my Dad and my sister’s boyfriend Cecil.

One’s a Vet of WW2, the other Vietnam.

Thanks to the both of you for your service and the unselfish act of serving your country

Take a moment today to thank a Vet.  And think about the men & women that have served.

Soup Kitchen Help for Thanksgiving

Unbelievable!

Tuesday morning we went on the air soliciting for volunteers to help do the prep work at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre for Thanksgiving.  And now 2 days later, we're already at 60+ volunteers.

This is the fastest EVER we filled up our spots at the kitchen.

If you still want to help, here's what you can do:

Lissa & I will be doing the entire show from the Soup Kitchen, Tuesday morning, November 26 starting at 5:30.  The kitchen can ALWAYS use non-perishable food donations OR monetary donations.  Why not stop by with a few canned goods or some cash while we're there?  We'd love to meet each and every one of you!

Volunteers are also needed to help serve meals on Thanksgiving to the homebound.  For some, it's the only human contact they'll get on that day.  Contact the kitchen for details.

And thanks so much for your help!!!

My Scary Ex!
Wow!  No shortage of reaction to this morning's MY SCARY EX topic.  You break off a relationship...are you prepared for what may happen next?

Here's a few listener comments.  Feel free to add to the list.

Two years ago I broke up with my boyfriend. We were going out for about 2 years and that day that I broke up with him he went out and got a tattoo of my name on his wrist.

My one ex came to my house at like 4am, and blew up a whole bunch of balloons and wrote something he liked about me on every one of them and put them in my car. My other ex would drop things off at my house that reminded him of me. Like my favorite candy. Ninja turtles, etc.

My x put an ad with my phone number in the newspaper saying I was selling chickens so my phone wouldn't stop ringing for 2 weeks.

My ex was super creepy. He would stand over me while I was sleeping and just watch me. The worst was one night he actually checked my pulse to see if I was sleeping

My ex used to break into my apartment almost every night for a month and would just sit there and cry for hours when i came home

I broke up with my bf on Friday. Yesterday he sent over 115 messages pleading for a fourth chance! No way in Hell!!!!

Hours after I broke up with him, I found a bag at my front door with every item I had either given to him or something that may have reminded him of me inside the bag. He must have went through his house immediately after me hanging up the phone, packed everything up and immediately left for the almost 3 hour drive!

My scary ex broke into my house and planted condoms in my dryer so my wife would try to leave me.
