Nov 21, 2012 ~ preparing a feast with friends :)
I think I speak for Rocky as well when I say we are completely OVERWHELMED with gratitude for the outpouring of love yesterday at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes Barre! Our happy helpers, consisting of family, friends, coworkers, and even first time volunteers came from all over Northeast PA to help us prepare a feast for the folks who will be eating at the soup kitchen on Thanksgiving.
I'll let the pictures do the talking, but one final thing: our hearts were heavy as this was our first annual broadcast without Anne Marie McCawley, longtime director of the soup kitchen who passed away on Friday. I'm sure she was in heaven smiling down on us though :) Her spirit was everywhere....
Our water company peeps!! They come every year! Love them!!!!
Kelly with her sons Brian & Noah - they came last year too! Aren't those the most handsome boys?
...hard workers too! Brian & Noah chopped TONS of carrots - I told them they're already better in the kitchen than I am. They seemed not surprised by that.
Gracie & Kathy from Blakeslee - they were awesome! Their other daughter's in the air force so we recorded a "Happy Thanksgiving" message and sent it to her on Facebook :)
Lisa & Marty Polivitus! Lisa's one of my Ryan's Run buddies from Allied - LOVE HER!!!
Carol Strzelecki Zalutko (next to me) and her mom from Berwick were SO great, they even stayed to help with lunch that day! What an amazing young lady!!!
I asked if I could take this one home with me - Peighton :) Isn't she beautiful? And she seemed so natural holding a mic. Methinks she could be a guest co-host at some point....
Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins in the house! They're so wonderful, they help out every year. THANKS GUYS for coming down! And for giving a portion of your ticket sales to the soup kitchen this weekend - you're awesome!!
Rocky & I with Jeremy Deebel from WBRE and Monsignor Kelly - Jeremy did his whole broadcast from the soup kitchen and even helped us out chopping ONIONS! What a cool cat!
.....our Pretty Potato Peeps! :)
Intern Danielle is AMAZING!! I seriously don't know what we would've done without her yesterday. Such a huge help. I'm dreading when her semester ends and she has to go! I wanna, like, chain her to the mixing board or something... but I guess that's "unethical"..... damn PC regulations these days...
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP YESTERDAY!! We really do have the best listeners in the universe. Now let's go get fat tomorrow :)
