Not So High Five

The makers of Vibram FiveFingers Footwear settled a class-action lawsuit this week after being accused of making false and unsubstantiated statements about the health benefits of its shows. They claimed to have made runners less prone to injury and more efficient at their sport while strengthening their foot and lower leg muscles.

Turns out, not so much. The settlement includes a monetary award of $3.75 million to be split among the lawyers and those involved in the class action suit, plus Vibram has to run ads – about 300 million impressions – to let people know the shoes aren’t as magical as they might have believed.

At the end of the day, many owners of Vibram products have a OneFinger response.
