3.5 months to go until the I DO's! Just like I expected, things have been super mellow for months and now everything is kicking into high gear. My goal this past weekend was to get as much done now that I could. There's so much that HAS to wait, but there's plenty that I can get out of the way now ... so ... this past weekend I put together our bathroom baskets. That was one of those things on my to-do list that we don't NEED now, but it was something I could check off my list and get it over with already!
This isn't the basket I did, but it looks pretty much the same. Just a bunch of little items our guests might find useful. I pinned the idea on Pinterest a long time ago and have only been to one wedding that had one ... and I love the idea, so we had to have them!
The basket for the men's room is a little different, but along the same lines.
Must haves included:
Static guard
Feminine items
Spray deodorant
A comb
Hair spray
Bobbie Pins
Hair Ties
Shout Wipes
Mini tooth brushes
. . . you get the idea . . .
Besides the bathroom baskets, I also ordered our custom cocktail napkins. I don't want to give away all of the little surprises, so i'm going to keep those a secret. I'll try to remember to post pics of them after the big day. I'm OBSESSED wtih them! Love love love it! If you're looking for a great idea, I'm not opposed to sharing it, I just don't want all of our guests to know the little surprises ahead of time. If you're stumped for an idea and don't want to just get monogram napkins - email me! Amanda@985krz.com!

My next task - choose songs and check in with John Mackey Designs to decide what to do with our linens and florals!
Pinterest is an amazing tool ... but it's also making my to-do lists longer and longer. It seems like every time I flip through the WEDDING section, I add something to my "must do" list! It's gotten so bad that i'm thinking about quitting Pinterest until October and our wedding arrives! Anyone else?
Thankfully, my mom is helping a TON with the signage for our wedding (those are a lot of the little things I keep adding to the list after seeing on Pinterest!) and all of the stationary. We are saving a ton by doing it ourselves opposed to ordering from Etsy, so that's good. A bunch of you have asked for updates on all things wedding related, but I feel like we haven't really made any progress to report on ... other than ... John got fitted for his tux! We went to Men's Wearhouse bc the groomsmen live all over and it was most convenient for them to just go to their nearest MW.
Here's my Groomy! (Or as the wedding blogs like to say, FH! Future Husband!)
Other than a tux fitting ... we've been planning ceremony music a bit. I'm so excited about the ceremony music. We are having the local duo, J2, perform our ceremony and cocktail hour music. They play a lot of really pretty music and sing beautifully together. The one song I'm sold on for the ceremony so far is the instrumental of "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. I love it. If you're not familiar - take a listen! I just find it so romantic. We'll swap the cello for a guitar ... more our style. ;)
A lot of people keep asking me if i'm stressing out yet ... and i'm not ... should I be? 4 months from tomorrow! XO Don't go stressing my fellow brides-to-be! :) XO
137 days until the big day . . . and i'm happy to finally be able to say . . . we booked flowers! Going into the wedding planning process, I didn't realize just how important that choice was going to be . . . and just how many choices there are to be made. At first my mentality was, as long as there are flowers, i'm good.
Silly me. After talking with a few different vendors, I quickly realized the flowers and centerpieces really play a bigger part than I originally thought. It all comes down to who you choose to help beautify your big day. After many meetings, phone calls, and tons of research . . . we chose John Mackey Design and we couldn't be more thrilled to be working with John and his team.
At our first meeting, it became very clear to me that John wasn't just designing centerpieces and bouquets . . . he has a vision for the entire reception space and offered tons of ideas that hadn't even crossed my mind. (I'm going to have to save those for another day because this will turn into a novel, but I promise I WILL blog about it all over the next few weeks/months as this progress!)
Oh yeah . . . John is actually doing our uplight and linens too! His company offers the things that really transform the space you are using. The linens are AMAZING, the uplighting is such a fun pop of color that adds such a nice touch to a room, and my gosh his ideas for our centerpieces are incredible.
Over the next few months he'll be designing examples for us to see, so i'll be sure to share them here! He's also super excited about incorporating our skeleton keys into the floral designs which I am most excited about!
More later, just wanted to share the exciting news! Things are starting to all come together now and fall into place! Yay yay yay!
So brides . . . are you planning on having uplighting at your reception?
I signed a form at the bridal shop I bought my dress at that said I wouldn't buy my wedding shoes until my final fitting. Because of that, I haven't really even given what kind of shoes i'm going to wear any thought . . . but I DO already have my shoe change planned.
I'm not a huge fan of heels and to be totally honest, I walk funny in them. It's just so unnatural for me. My plan for the reception . . . sparkly Toms! My mom got them for me as a gift ... what do you think?
Are you planning to/did you change into flats for your reception?
Hey friends! At Guys Night Out For The Girls on Friday night I got yelled at by a few ladies that have been following this blog of my wedding planning and were wondering where i've been and why there haven't been many posts lately. Honestly ... I haven't done anything! I have a feeling this summer is going to be chock full of wedding choices and planning ... but it's been slow lately!
I do have an update though! Over the weekend, John's Mom, (or MOG as she likes to be called!) sister-in-law Patti, and sister Carolyn and I went dress shopping. It was a girls day! We went to the most amazing mall in New Jersey and ended up finding the Mother of the Groom a beautiful dress at Lord and Taylor. It fit her beautifully and looked amazing!
We had a great day that started with sunshine ... and then when we exited the mall we found that the skies opened up and it was downpouring! This is our SOAKED shot once we finally made it back to the car. My shoes are STILL wet today!
The only other update I have it ... our keys arrived! I mentioned before, our wedding theme is skeleton keys! John gave me a Tiffany key to his heart on our first Valentine's Day together. It seemed only appropriate that we used keys in the wedding decor. We ordered a ton of different keys on Etsy and they all arrived. Most will be used in the centerpieces ... but more on that later ;)
Pretty, huh?!
The next things on the wedding to-do list are ... map out the ceremony, make sure the girls order their bridesmaid dresses, and schedule hair and makeup! Going to need to call my hair favorites at Sapphire! :)
