Scary? Just a Lot!

A contract employee for the FAA started a fire at the Air Route Traffic Control Center outside Chicago on Friday that grounded or rerouted thousands of flights on Friday. The disruption lasted into the weekend.

Authorities were alerted to a problem when a family member told them about a Facebook post the contractor had made. "Take a hard look in the mirror, I have. And this why I'm about to take out ZAU and my life." ZAU refers to the control center.

Looks like we’re going to have to start demanding that air traffic controllers pass through TSA checkpoints just to get into work.

SNL Fails the Funny

It’s a new season at Saturday Night Live, and the trending commentary is not good for last Saturday’s season premiere.

In it, the writers and actors “spoofed” the ongoing problems the National Football League has been having with its players. Players like Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and their ilk have all been in the news, both on and off the field, and none of it is good.

The skit involved football players introducing themselves, and instead of saying the name of the school they attended – which is the norm – they recited charges against them.

Not a lot funny there. But check it out for yourself. See if you don't agree...

George & Amal Tie the Knot

In case you missed it, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin said their "I do's" in Italy over the weekend.

It was a star-studded but low-key event that managed to basically shut down Venice - but what a wonderful backdrop for the wedding photos, huh?

London's Daily Telegraph posted this video of the wedding party and guests catching water taxis to get to the wedding itself.

It's sort of like watching paint dry, but maybe you can make it entertaining by playing "Name That Celebrity!"

Clinton Grandchild Arrives

Chelsea Clinton gave birth to Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky last week, the first grandchild for former president Bill Clinton and possible future president, Hillary Clinton.

The Clintons are simply delighted to be grandparents.

In fact, Bill tweeted a note to hours-old Charlotte.

"@billclinton" said he and "@HillaryClinton" appear to be very happy about Charlottes arrival.

And they've still got a year or so to decide whether the baby will need to call grandpa and grandma by their Twitter handles...

Denzel Equalizes the Competition

Denzel Washington is back in the box office sweepstakes, and he's on top.

Over the weekend, his new movie, The Equalizer grossed over $35 million.

In it, Denzel plays a former special forces fighter who comes out of retirement to fight the Russian mob.

The movie is loosely based on the TV series of the same name from the late 1980s that starred Edward Woodward.

And before the movie even opened, they were working on a sequel.

That's some powerful faith right there.

Doo Wop or Do Not?

I think I'm getting tired of Jimmy Fallon presuming to sing with icons from the music industry.

It started a couple of weeks ago when Jimmy sang on The Tonight Show with Barbra Streisand in her first TV appearance in decades.

Last week, he sat across the desk from Robert Plant, the legendary front man for Led Zeppelin, and used a computer app to mix in vocals tracks for the classic 50's tune, "Duke of Earl."

Robert was gracious, but do you get the sense that maybe it would be better to let Robert sing on his own?

I hosted a Big Brother day out at Maylath's Farm in Sugarloaf on Saturday. What a fun day! Maylath's is a family run farm nestled in the beautiful Conyngham Valley just 30 minutes from Wilkes-Barre. And the farm has everything you'd want for you & the kids to celebrate Fall:

The search is on for the Great Pumpkin.

We found it!

Pumpkin slingshot = awesome!!!

Big thanks to Chris Maylath and the rest of the staff at Maylath's Farm for a fun day.

Kevin Durant is LeBron James?

Ever wonder what NBA players do with their downtime?

Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder plays NBA video games on his PlayStation. On The Tonight Show this week, he told Jimmy Fallon he's really good at it. In fact, he and some of his friends have summerlong tournaments.

Except for his brother, who gets too intense and might break Kevin's TV.

Oh, and by the way, Kevin doesn't play as himself. That would be "kinda arrogant." So instead, he plays as LeBron James.

And in case you missed it, Kevin is this year's cover model for NBA2K15. Check out the trailer for it. Yes, a trailer, for a video game...

A Perfect Farewell

It was Derek Jeter's last game at Yankee Stadium.

Nerve-wracking for him.

Yankees versus the Orioles.

In his first at-bat in the 1st inning, Jeter hits a double.

His last at-bat comes in the 9th. The score is tied, 5 - 5. There's one out, and the Yankess have a man at 2nd base.

On the fifth pitch, Jeter pokes a single into right field, and the runner scores.

The Yankees win with a walk-off single from #2.

If this were a movie, no one would believe it...
